Adult Educational Opportunities
Sunday Mornings: 10:20 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. throughout the program year
LEARNING DISCIPLES (Room 111): Join our Learning Disciples discussion group to learn more about our bible and understand its meaning in our lives. The group uses biblically-oriented resource materials that generate questions motivating discussion and interaction. The discussions increase our understanding and help us grow in faith. This group welcomes new participants regardless of their knowledge level.
RELIGIOUS STUDIES BOOK GROUP (Room 112): This group discusses books that deal with modern scholarship regarding Christianity, theology and scripture. You will enjoy this class if you have a symbolic (rather than a literal/factual) understanding of religious traditions and the Bible, and if you want to gain knowledge and insight. We engage in unstructured discussions of the reading material in an accepting and open atmosphere, and the responsibility for leading the discussion rotates among members
FAITH MATTERS (Room 113): This is a new Sunday morning offering, exploring a faith response to many of today’s current events and life experiences. Each week will have its own focus, using Scripture, book or news resources, and personal stories. This is a “drop-in” friendly forum for those seeking to grow personally as well as within the WPC community.
FAITH IN THE HEADLINES (Library): This diverse group meets weekly and discusses various newsworthy events in our city and around the world. Come chat about events important to you and how they relate to our lives as Christians.

In the last two years, she has taken students to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and South Africa on service-learning trips. Dr. Bussie will have copies of her award winning book "Laughter of the Oppressed" available for purchase and signing. |
An excerpt from "Laughter of the Oppressed": “My work began with a simple question prompted by Dietrich Bonhoeffer's reflections on standing in solidarity with the oppressed: Where is the theological consideration of laughter 'from below,' 'from the perspective of the outcast, the mistreated, the powerless, the oppressed, the reviled – in short, from the perspective of those who suffer'?"
Dessert and coffee is provided. Admission is free and open to the public. All are welcome!
